What sets Land&Sea apart form other stores selling birds?
A couple of things.
1. We breed our own birds in a closed aviary. What does this mean to you?Healthy birds! None of our birds are acquired from wholesalers, brokers or bird fairs to avoid any potential for introducing disease into our flock.
2. All our breeding birds are tested for PBFD and Psitticosis and are documented free of these diseases. Because Lovebirds seem to be particularly susceptible to PBFD, we also test clutches randomly to make sure all is well!
3. Cages are not just changed out, but disinfected weekly, using a natural cleanser that's safe for the birds, the people working with them, and the environment, all nest boxes are rotated and disinfected after each clutch, and the parents are rested after each clutch, giving them time to exercise, socialize, hang out and just be a bird!
4.In order to become the best possible pet, birds need to be raised in as enriching an environment as possible, to this end many of our babies are handfed in our home, handled by children and adults, exposed to all sorts of noise and stimuli to make sure that they're mentally able to cope with everything life has to offer. They are weaned to a varied diet consisting of Higgins seed mix, fresh fruits and vegetables, RoudyBush pellets and fresh sprouts. This insures you don't have a picky eater going home with you! They have learned that variety is a GOOD thing and readily eat anything offered!
We feel that these four things set us apart from the average pet store, and even from the average breeder. We take the health and well being of our birds very seriously, and ultimately, this results in happy customers with happy, healthy pets!
Below are a couple of our birds, Nick is a double dark factored Lovebird, and Chris(on right) is a gorgeous Jenday conure, and he KNOWS he's one handsome bird!
